Me, La I Took me a while, but I finally finished
Haikyuu. This was my first sports series, and I honestly wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did. What struck me so much about this series was the way stakes are set up. At the end of the day, even if the mc loses, it's not the end of the world. No one's in danger and there's no villainous team to defeat. It's just high schoolers playing volleyball. But the way the story is set up to allow us to know the characters and their mindsets about just how much this game means to them, it sets up unique personal stakes that you can't help but get invested in.
was anime-only starting out, and picked up the manga after season 4 ended
(chapter 292 for anyone curious). The artwork was really well done, able to capture the dynamic plays and movements of each game that just made everything feel exciting.
I'm not a big sports fan myself, but honestly would encourage all of you to give this series a watch or read. I promise you won't be disappointed.
