Armed with my Covid mask and my camera, I decided to go see what our President and some questionable media outlets were calling "domestic terrorists" taking over Seattle. Shortly after I arrived at CHAZ (Capitol
Hill Autonomous Zone), I was offered a slice of pizza from the so-called "armed militants." I gotta tell you, if militants are armed with pizza, count me in for the cause!
I saw no guns, no violence, no terrorism of any kind. I felt safe the entire time. I saw people sitting in circle discussing how to end systemic racism, dream boards and a couple men whittling wood. Sure, I saw graffiti, but I've never not seen graffiti in the Cap Hill neighborhood - but I also saw some amazing street art being done that will fit in nicely with the already existing street art all around this city. I saw stands filled with free food and water, dogs playing and people enjoying themselves and the company around
them.
Yet another reminder that we must always be vigilant in fact checking our sources these days between social media, various news outlets and unfortunately, from our President.
