    • I imagine that evolving involves how much stress the pokemon endures, which is why combat is practically the only way people evolve pokemon. Then when they reach a certain threshold their bodies rapidly evolve to better handle combat/stress.

    • It’s epi-genetics. Means the potential to change is in their DNA but isn’t activated until exposed to the right trigger. In most cases the adrenaline and combat is enough to push evolution. In other scenarios, evolution stones act like royal jelly to the bees. It’s not age, it’s triggering the DNA
