did you know?
King Arthur's legendary 'sword in the
stone' might actually exist- in Italy. In
the 12th century, a pious Italian knight
who'd abandoned his ruthless ways had
religious visions and allegedly pushed
his sword into the stone ground, which
"yielded like butter." A chapel was built
around the sword, which has long been
thought a fake, but recent studies show
it is indeed from the 12th century.
