That’s called using a different method than the teacher taught you and since the teacher didn’t teach you that way it must be wrong... which is bs. Why do 8 steps which you can do in 4.
I do this in college all the time somehow and it works. I've even guessed answers and gotten them right. And in engineering, that just doesn't make sense because answers are usually very complex.
That’s not how teachers grade math. They don’t give 2 shits if you got the correct answer they want to see the work and they grade what work you’ve put down.
Oh my god this literally makes zero fucking sense with the “Nobody: “ at the beginning. It’s pretty clear that you retards don’t even understand it and just hop on the bandwagon
My geometry teacher used to do this, if you got the answer right but wrong formula/work he’d mark it wrong but on the other hand if you got the answer wrong but had the correct formula he’d give partial credit.
My college chemistry teacher marked me wrong on a test which was 10% of the test (no partial credit) when the only thing I did wrong was put the decimal in the wrong spot in the final answer, even though it was write in my work because I used straight up algebra and not her stupid little method.
My freshman year in Alg 2/trig I handed my teacher a sheet of formulas and shortcuts I used to get the same answer as the formulas he taught us. He crumpled it into a ball and tossed in the trash can
Does anyone else hate when the teacher gives you a test and says you have to write down all your work for each problem or you don’t get credit because you could’ve cheated? It can be the simplest fucking equation like 20 x 4 and they’ll still ask for work
Well mathematics are all ull sed to corespond with each other so its possible his common sense took over his concious mind and was like wait, no, use this.
Ive actually done this without cheating. The teacher asked me how i did it and my response was always the same thing. “Magic”. I got suspended for “backsassing” the teacher after the 3rd time
If that's physics then there's a ton of ways to get the right answer and do the work different than the teacher. Doesn't mean the work is wrong, just different
That shit always got me on edge... like yeah I’d do it a different way because I understood the equation, and what we were trying to accomplish... then some ass who got a degree in that shit thinks your a dumbass cuz they believe their method is the only one that works.
I'm grateful for the fact that my teachers didn't dock marks for using a different method than they taught, because they were still able to figure out what we did because they actually knew their shit. We got points for the work and the answer, so if you didn't have the answer you still got points.
I hated high school math with the showing your work shit. I would show MY work and would get the right answer but got the question wrong because the work I showed wasnt right? Wtf. Why i stopped going to school and passed because of tests. So fuck teachers
I did that all the time. I knew the answer but didn’t know how to do their bs “one way only way” method so I just wrote something down to look like I did work even when the answer was easy af
I used to be able to get the answer for problems but not know the formula or how to show my work so I’d just write random shit cause you HAVE to show work always
Ive actually done this before many times. I can do math up to algebra 2 in my head so my math teachers always got pissed when I wouldn’t show work and got the right answer
It’s called a coincidence. It just happens sometimes. It’s why a lot of teachers make you show your work and won’t give full credit if you do the work wrong.
Legit one time I was messing around and was like “to find the number of a simplified sqrt (such as 3 to the sqrt of 3) you square the number under the square root and multiply it by the outside number” I was just trying to confuse my friends who needed help but it actually works.
with math, there’s multiple routes to the same answer, our teacher understood this and told us she didn’t care what method we used, if we showed the work and got the right answer, she’d have no complaints
Most high school math teachers don't have a degree in math and are just competent in math. So when a student uses a different way that doesn't abide by the book the teacher is using they assume you are cheating
One time in high school i ran out of time on a math test and guessed the coordinates. They ended up being the right ones but my teacher gave me 0 on it because he thought i was cheating.
