    • It's actually more true than false, however that's not why we pace. Generally it's because when we talk we have social queues like moving hands, facial expressions, etc and when we talk on the phone we only get the voice. Pacing helps us to focus on the voice and collect our thoughts by

    • That's a dumbed down explanation. We're used to getting lots more stimuli in a conversation (body language, facial expression, etc) and because we can't see the other person, our brains get way less stimuli and it feels different from a regular conversation. To compensate, you walk around and now

    • Actually, the reason we pace when talking on the phone is because we are wired for face-to-face communication and when we talk on the phone we lack the visual stimuli of reading the other person’s facial cues, so our bodies compensate by walking around which provides that missing stimulation.
