I
U.S. citizens have the right to resist an unlawful arrest.
"Citizens may resist unlawful arrest to the point of taking
an arresting officer's life if necessary."
"An illegal arrest is an assault and battery. The person so
attempted to be restrained of his liberty has the same right
to use force in defending himself as he would in repelling
any other assault and battery."

    • Tupac shot 2 off duty cops who were drunk and harassing a black man for no reason. Most times you're wrong even if you're right in this country, the cops have all the power, unfortunately.

    • @just_a_guy, unlawful. I urge everyone to comply since there may be an active warrant for your arrest and if you are unaware and resist and injury or kill a police officer you will face additional charges and loss of your freedom.

    • @just_a_guy, maybe taken away but not your life. The best course of action in my opinion is to temporarily comply and use the police civilly. It seems that it is not up to you to determine if the attempted arrest is unlawful or the officer. The courts after the fact determine whether the arrest was

    • @CU_Flem, You're right. That's what they'll classify the incident as and charge you with even though you have committed no crime and have done actions completely by the book and laws out of self defense.

    • @CU_Flem, This is a legit and official law in the United States. I have studied it before. Now while this is all written in black in white, you'd never get away with that which just goes to show how screwed up our legal system is.

    • Yea, I looked it up. If you kill a cop during an unlawful arrest, it isn't murder. It is still manslaughter. And to whoever is reading this, what did you do that was important enough to get you unlawfully arrested ?
