    • It’s because clothing detergent and the dyes they made clothes with back in the day were both garbage and made the colors bleed. Nowadays, things are made better and that doesn’t really happen. Though I wouldn’t suggest washing whites with reds unless you want to end up with reds and pinks.

    • Your whites will get discolor after a few washes if you don’t wash them separately. Vinegar works well as a bleach alternative. It disinfects your washer and clothes too.
