• Having a fan account and being in a fandom is something that most people have the wrong idea
about, Most people think it's simply just dedicating all your time and life to a certain artist or ty
show or book series and yes I guess that is part of it but's so much more than that. You make friends
with people from all over the world and you're constantly surrounded by these people who are just
like you and who genuinely care about you. And you wake up every morning and you check your
phone to see if there's anything new and you tweet good morning as if you're going downstairs for
breakfast and saying good morning to your family who's already there. And you do this all
throughout the day you tweet about your thoughts and opinions and even in the best and worst
moments of your life somewhere in your mind you're thinking "I can't wait to tell everyone on
twitter about this" or even when you're in school you tweet about it because somehow it's
reassuring to let people know you're having a shit day because someone somewhere is also having
the same and
that's what a
lot of people don't know. People who have never
experienced having a
fan account don't know that it's not just about spamming your idols for a
reply or
a follow, it's about
just having people there. They don't know that that really quiet girl in class who has no
friends
actually has thousands, they re just scattered all over
the world. Being in a
fandom it's like having a
big family and even
though a
lot of the times most people are
annoying you
realise one
day that
that's okay because in some way
they're actually making it less boring. And It's a
place to vent to if
you're sad or angry and even
though you don't think anyone really cares you can still tweet about it
because it's comforting you just know people know how you
feel. It becomes this huge part of your
life that you'll never forget because you make friends and you
lose friends, and you're constantly
learning, every day. And even though it's just through a
phone or computer screen people show how
much they care about you and appreciate you so much, oftentimes even better than your friends in
real life. It's also a growing process, all the drama and bullshit it somehow helps you grow and
become a
better person. I think what I'm trying to say is that being in a fandom, it's not something
you should be embarrassed about or feel like you're wasting your time on because you're not,
you're simply finding yourself whilst in the atmosphere of those who are just like you.
