In Rango (2011), Actors actually performed
just like in a live movie and this was later
referenced by Animators in animating the
film.
You mean it wasn't motion captured, but it was
referenced and animated?

    • It’s actually insane how well the animation has held up for Rango. Any other animated movie from 2011 looks dated by today’s standards but Rango looks just as good if not better than a modern Pixar movie.

    • This is likely because Gore Verbinski had not had a lot of experience in directing an animated film, so in addition to making this movie come to life in a more old-school method they even had an augmented reality camera that tracked the camera through the CG environments.
