    • Just grind? I always leveled up to lvl20 before the first gym. Lvl25 before you enter Mt. Moon. 30-35 before Misty and just level up 10-15 more levels before each gym basically. Grinding is not hard. Ever since blue version came out I've been playing and grinding the same since the 90s.

    • In later games metal claw made it easy. Back in original Red/Blue your best bet was to catch a Nidoran and get double kick or a Mankey with low-kick. Otherwise try to poison Onix and just stall it out. As a 4 year old who picked Charmander I got my ass kicked a lot my first time.
