CHEMISTRY FACT: Explosives
have characteristic "detonation
velocities" at which shockwaves
expand. Smartphone video records
at 30 FPS, so the adjacent frames
here suggest the front expands at
sec. Consistent with ammonium
nitrate, not black powder.

Chemistry fact. Flash powder (potassium
perchlorate+aluminum powder) which is used in
most fireworks nowadays has a detonation velo-
city of 4000 m/s and eyeballing detonation
velocity with shitty found footage is difficult as
hell. It's completely possible that it was a - Flash powder explosion and not black powder or ammonium nitrate explosion

    • Except if it were fireworks it would be a bunch of little explosions in a chain. That was one titanic explosion. There's also the fact that fireworks, even an entire warehouse exploding, do not produce a shockwave. Especially not a shockwave that generates a vapor ring and knocks over buildings

    • I have doubts about it being a fireworks factory because of the location and the look of the building, but I never thought it was impossible it could be like a factory where they produce/handle the explosive material in them. Supposedly ammonium nitrate isnt often used in fireworks, but this is also

    • Fun fact: The governments official story is that it was 2.75kt of Ammonium Nitrate that was set off by the fireworks. If it was truly a firework explosion, why would they lie about it in a way that makes them look worse?
