    • The third one is German. You can tell based on how well put together it is. Most other countries didn't expect to stay in their trenches very long, but Germany knew that's where they were essentially going to be living, so German trenches were always much nicer.

    • I've toured a few WW1 sites, they pictures hardly do them justice. I stood on the edge of a British trench looking out towards a crater scarred field and eventually the German position only a few hundred yards away. It took them 6 months to take that position.

    • The documentary by Peter Jackson titled "They Shall Not Grow Old" is a very in depth into how horrific this war was for the ground troops. I never gave WW1 any thought tbh. Only WW2. IMO ww1 was way worse.

    • Nature has a funny way to reclaim what is rightfully hers. Most of those trenches would be overgrown by now to the point you would only see dips and might think it was a dried up riverbed. Most of those trenches shown are part of museum battleground parks used to showcase the horrors of the past.
